About

Open-source technology for social good

The Development and Future Impact Association (KAGED-DAFI) is an independent, non-profit civil society organisation building open-source software and tools for NGOs and communities, working across climate, environment, cultural heritage, and community empowerment.

Who We Are

The association’s founders worked in humanitarian relief operations in Hatay after the 2023 earthquakes. Most of what delayed aid reaching the people who needed it was not technical — it was coordination and planning. The tools we build came directly out of that experience.

Today we work in five areas: we build open-source technology for social good, carry out climate and environmental conservation, research cultural heritage through digital methods, support community empowerment and inclusion, and contribute to sustainable development. We release what we build for free and as open source.

Our Vision

A world where technology serves everyone equally, and communities shape their own future.

We believe the tools that civil society and communities need should be developed as open source, free, and adaptable by anyone. We take this approach across every area we work in — from disaster response to climate conservation, from cultural heritage to community empowerment.

Our Mission

Tools that work for civil society, and a voice for communities.

We build open-source technology starting from the problems we have met in the field, carry out climate and environmental conservation, research cultural heritage, and support the empowerment of communities.
